About TEAM Guilford
line3
Over the last eight months, TEAM Guilford hosted a series of Community Conversations with individuals, organizations and constituencies throughout Guilford. Citizens of all ages and from all facets of the community came together to determine the core values that are important to us as a community, identify critical issues that the community is facing, and then mobilize to build on our strengths and take action to address those needs.

Phase I
From November through February, there was a series of facilitated Community Conversations that took place in various locations throughout Guilford. People from all sectors of the community were encouraged to register for and attend one of the conversations.

Phase II
During March and April, data from these conversations was compiled in a report that identifies key themes related to the community’s strengths, weaknesses, values we should live by as a community and action ideas for working on key issues.

Phase III
A Community Forum will be held in late on Sunday April 27th when people from across the community (approximately 200) come together to review the key themes that have emerged through the Community Conversations, discuss their own ideas about core issues, and move into task groups to begin tackling the issues.

kickoff

b Early 2006 – the idea of a Healthy Communities-Healthy Youth Project was explored by a cross-section of Guilford’s leadership; eventually shifted to a broader community focus
b January 31, 2007 – a smaller “Steering Committee” met to regroup, think of other approaches, decided on an inclusive community engagement process

b Between November, 2007, and February, 2008, TEAM Guilford ran a series of Community Conversations and surveys that got input from approximately 300 Guilford citizens and workers from a wide range of backgrounds. The input was around 4 key questions: on what they love about Guilford, what the issues and concerns are, what values we need to build a strong community and ideas to address the problems. The data from these conversations and a report on the findings can be accessed on the data page of this website.
